Hygge! Make your home Scandi-tastic by introducing a herd of semi-wild reindeer

By  |

Hands up who’d rather be Danish! Whether it’s the chic style, easy sense of contentment, or feasible political parties that attract you most to the Danish way of life, it’s time to Scandi up your life.

Hygge is the Danish word for ‘comfort eating next to expensive candles’. So whether or not you’re already on the cosy train to Skagen, why not try something fresh to Scandify your home this spring?

Here’s how to bring some of that magical hygge into your home, with some ungulates who can pronounce the word ‘hygge’ better than you can, through their velvety snouts.

1. Acclimatise your herd

It’s extremely hygge to seize life by the antlers. You might need to physically grab hold of some antlers as your new brood roam your house in search of grasses and lichens.

2. Deter predators

The good of the herd is your responsibility now. For the first time, you are charged with the protection of something far greater than yourself. Nighttime shifts guarding your furry coterie are your new normality. Contentment will eventually, but surely, follow from a lifetime of diligent guardianship.

3. Become one with the herd

Arumppph arrrumph. Grunnph arooooo.

So, there you have it. Hygge is by far the coolest version of the lucrative yearning British people have for happiness. So get yourself some exotic deer before the trend leaves you behind.
